摘要
1939年晋西事变后,阎锡山与国民政府矛盾冲突日趋激化,生存空间受到严重挤压。日军窥悉阎的现实困境,立即展开"对伯工作",向其许诺规模庞大的军事经济援助,冀以瓦解抗战阵营。阎锡山蠢蠢欲动,尤其中条山战役后,山西相互制衡的权力格局被打破,阎日合作步伐逐渐加快。待至1941年9月,阎锡山判断美日和谈必然成功,抗战信心全无,意欲公开投敌。蒋介石为阻阎投敌,在尽力满足其各项要求的同时,命令胡宗南向晋绥军施加军事压力,恩威并用。此后珍珠港事变爆发,使得阎对中日战争胜负的判断再次改变,而日军亦无足够资源履行援助诺言,即便1942年4月采取武力逼降,阎锡山在巨大生存压力下,依然拒绝公开投敌,守住了最后底线,日军"对伯工作"被迫中止。由此可知,该时段阎锡山处在通敌与拒敌之间的灰色地带,政治态度具有很大的投机性、多变性与不确定性。
After the Western Shanxi Incident of 1939,the contradictions and conflictions between Yan Xishan and the Nationalist government seriously intensified,and Yan Xishan's living space was severely squeezed.After learning Yan's difficult situation,the Japanese army immediately negotiated with Yan,and promised to provide large scale military and economic assistance for Yan,expecting to disintegrate the camp of resistance.Yan Xishan was ready for action,in particular after the Zhongtiaoshan Battle,the balance of power in Shanxi was broken,the cooperative pace between Yan and Japanese army gradually accelerated.In September of 1941,Yan Xishan judged that the negotiations between the USA and Japan should be successful,and lost confidence to the future of resistance,planning to surrender to Japan publicly.In order to prevent Yan's surrender,Chiang Kai-shek tried his best to satisfy Yan's all requirements,at the same time,Chiang ordered General Hu Zongnan to bring military pressure to Yan's army.The outbreak of the Pearl Incident changed Yan Xishan's judge to the future of the Sino-Japanese War,and the Japanese army also had no enough resources to deliver their promise to Yan.Even in April of 1942 the Japanese army pressed Yan with force,Yan,facing great survival pressure,refused to surrender enemy publicly and held on the bottom line.The Japanese army's"Yan Xishan Peace Plan"had to be stopped.Therefore,in this period Yan Xishan was in a grey zone between collaboration with enemy and resistance to enemy,his political attitude was considerable gambling,changeable and uncertain.
