Objective To explore the nursing effect of prevention of urinary tract infection in the department of urology patients with indwelling urinary catheter. Methods One hundred and sixty cases of urology patients with indwelling urinary catheter in our department of urology from May 2014 to June 2016 were selected, which were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 80 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing care, and the observation group was given nursing intervention on the basis of the control group. The urinary tract infection rate, hospital discharge time and nursing satisfaction were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results The urinary tract infection rate of the observation group was 10.00%, which was lower than 47.50% of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). The discharge rate of the observation group was 97.50% before 5 d, which was obviously higher than 70.00% of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). The nursing satisfaction of the observation group was 95.00%, which was higher than 67.50% of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion The nursing effect of catheter infection in the department of urology patients with indwelling urinary catheter is remarkable, which can improve the patient's clinical symptoms and quality of life, reduce urinary tract infection, shorten the treatment time, improve the cure rate, it is worthy of popu- larization and application.
