摘要
本研究采用一种从宏微观研究专业话语的新视角,基于文本分析并结合外交话语实践和跨文化社会情境的对比分析,对中美例行记者会话语中情态系统的语言资源进行定性和定量分析,探求两国外交话语的情态表达及人际意义协商策略的跨文化差异。中美外交发言人在情态资源的运用上具有一定的相似之处,表明了此类话语的语域同一性;而两者之间的区别则反映了不同文化背景下两国政府面对媒体时采取的不同态度和策略,体现了意识形态的差异。
This study proposes an integrated theoretical framework to analyze specialized discourse, and approaches the daily press briefings of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US Department of State from a cross-cultural perspective. A eontrastive analysis of the texts, diplomatic discursive practices and cross-cultural social practices is conducted both qualita- tively and quantitatively, with the focus on the lexico-grammatical resources of Modality, to compare the linguistic strategies used in diplomatic discourse to construct interpersonal meaning in different cultural backgrounds. The similarities of the use of modal expressions by Chinese and American diplomats reflect the common discursive features of the same register, and the differences reveal the different orientations, strategies and ideological stances of the two governments when facing the media.
