摘要
稳定的国家特性是一国繁荣与发展的基石,国家特性的迷失会让一国社会面临内部分解和衰落的威胁。新加坡是一个具有鲜明国家特性的国家。在当前阶段,价值观因素和族群结构是维持新加坡国家特性稳定最重要的因素。建国以来,新加坡政府采取各项举措维持国家特性的稳定,其中包括加强华族传统价值观教育,推广华文,平衡并保护少数族群的利益和文化,以保持文化的稳定;也包括倾向性地吸收华人移民以维持国家族群结构等。
A stable national identity is the cornerstone of a nation＇s prosperity and development. The loss of nation- al identity wiU expose the country to the threats of internal social decomposition and national decline. Singapore is a city-state with a distinctive national identity. At the current stage, its value and racial structure are the most im- portant factors in shaping Singapore＇s national identity. Since its establishment, the Singaporean government took many measures to maintain a stable national identity. It encourages the Chinese ethnic to receive education of tradi- tional value and to learn Chinese language. Meanwhile, the government balances and protects the interests and cul- tures of minorities in order to preserve the stability of shared values. It is also inclined to absorb more Chinese im- migrants so that it can keep the stability of the country＇s ethnic structure.
