摘要
在论述国际组织研究发展脉络的基础上,详细比较国际组织主流和批判理论,评述它们在各自理论框架下的多种视角及争论,可以发现:国际组织领域的研究曾滞后于国际关系学整体的学科研究,然而在经历了四波的研究浪潮后,国际组织研究已经从浅层次的重要性研究向深层次的问题性研究延伸;在国际组织理论的发展史中,现实主义和自由主义的论战为国际组织的研究奠定了学理性基础,它们成为了传统的主流理论;冷战后国际关系理论的第四次大论战构成了国际组织研究突飞猛进的背景,特别令人瞩目的是,建构主义通过赋予国际制度独立行为体的地位,从而引领了国际组织研究的新阶段,并与现实主义和自由主义形成了国际组织理论三足鼎立的局面。
This article explores the theoretical development and debates in the study of international organizations. With a detailed comparison among the mainstream and critical theories of international organizations, the author believes that the study of international organizations, as a sub-field of International Relations, ever lagged behind the disciplinary development of International Relations and the historical progress of international organizations themselves. But after four waves of research tides, the research on international organizations has been extending from the early superficial discussion on the importance of international organizations, to more profound issues such as institutional design, the institutional effectiveness, the interaction between international institutions and domestic politics, and global governance. In the theoretical development of international organizations, the debate on international institutions between Neo-liberalism and Neo-realism in the 1970＇s and 1980＇s laid the basic theoretical foundation, and they become traditional mainstream theories. After the end of the Cold War, the fourth great debate in the study of International Relations is marked another round of theoretical progress in the research on international organizations. Constructivism, Marxism, Feminism and other critical theories and new approaches challenged the conventional wisdom of Neo-realism and Neo- liberalism with alternative perspectives. Most significantly, Constructivism has been increasingly seen as one of the mainstream theories of international organizations along with Neo-realism and Neo-liberalism.
