The theoretical principles and characteristics of the evaporative cooling technique are introduced. Then, the practical application of this technique in hydro-turbine generator units in Three Gorges Hydropower Station is introduced, including the structure of the evaporative cooling system, key techniques adopted, problems encountered during its operation and corresponding improvement measures.
