Roland Barthes is keen on the drama written by Brecht and has given an overall evaluation of the dramatic arts of Brecht. In Roland＇s opinion, Brecht is an outstanding dramatist, whose dramatic works are different from the current senseless drama on the stage and the general realistic drama. Mr. Barthes analyzed four analytical angles of Brecht at that time： sociology, ideology, semeiology and ethnics in great detail. In the meantime, he summed up the research status of Brecht and made special judgment of three plays of the dramatist, which contributes to the deeper understanding of Brecht and his drama. In one word, Roland Barthes＇ comment on Brecht is a typical example in dramatic research.
