大量访谈显示21世纪初美国公立大学组织文化观念出现了重大转折:其首要使命变为以研究获得国内外学术声誉;研究业绩决定教师晋升;商业思潮淡漠了昔日学院式的人情味,功利主义抬头,个性与异议受压;孤立化的学术人员转以学科共同体为精神归宿,对治理大学兴味索然;行政人员由此开始自视为大学主人。
Many interviews showed that there' re organizational culture changes in Amer- ican public university in the early 21st century. Its primary goal was to achieve academic rep- utation at home and abroad by research; faculty promotion was decided by research perform- ance; the once collegial local community eroded under the wave of commercialization, cau- sing the rise of utilitarianism and the suppression of individuality and dissidence; the isolated faculty members turned to the spiritual home of disciplinary community, losing the interest of involving university governance; and the administration staff began to identify themselves as the host of the university.
