摘要
《明六杂志》创刊号(1874.3)载西周等讨论国字改良文,为其后长达数十年的国字国语改良运动的首次论战。但现在看来,这些文章已提示罗马字及假名的专用是不可行的;只有西村茂树出于尊重历史而对废除汉字持慎重立场,才是国字改良的现实方向。
Articles in Meiroku zasshi, which was initiated in March, 1874, have discussed Japanese script reform in Nishi Amane and other dynasties and actually represent the first debate on Japanese script reform in the decades following first publication. However, it now appears that the Roman alphabet and kana characters in the articles published during those years are infeasible. It is highly realistic that Nimura Shigeki should respect the history of character use and repeal these Chinese characters in the reform of the Japanese script.
