Objective To contrast the clinical effect and reliability of one time and several times root canal treatment on elderly cracked pulpitis. Methods 184 patients with elderly cracked pulpitis in our hospital from January 2012 to January 2014 were selected according to the digital table method. They were divided into control group and experimen-tal group,92 cases in each group. One time root canal treatment was applied to control group.Several times root canal treatment was applied to experimental group.Patients in both group were treated for 12 months. After theraphy, the total effective rate, the rate of pain and the sucess rate of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The to-tal effective rate of experimental group was 98.91%,higher than 85.87% of control group, the difference was significant (P〈0.05).The rate of pain of experimental group was 7.61%,lower than 16.30% of control group, the difference was sig-nificant (P〈0.05).After 12 months of follow-up,the sucess rate of treatment of experimental group was 95.65%,higher than 80.43% of control group, the difference was significant(P〈0.05). Conclusion One time root canal treatment has the advantage of short treatment cycle, high effective rate, mild pain and exactly long-term curative effect over several times root canal treatment. It can improve the quality of life of patients effectively and reduce the burden of patients. It is a safe and effective treatment method.
