传统建筑"改造与再利用"的主题在当下社会越来越受到关注,某种程度上已成为一种主流符号。同时,可持续性发展也已上升为全球性的战略问题,其中,建筑的可持续性发展是其重要组成部分。它的意义不仅止于一种时尚风向,更多体现在它可以有效的避免资源浪费,具有不可忽略的环保意义。同时它拥有可持续的特性,使被改造建筑延续得以新生,得以延续其人文特性及文化特质,有着极大的社会价值。传统建筑的改造保护与可持续性的生态建筑战略之间有着相通的关系,两者之间可以相互借鉴及完善。
