摘要
杰克·伦敦后期涉华作品中,通过对东方文明与西方文明截然不同的思想理念与处世哲学的对比描写,展现了华人温良、勤奋、诚信、孝顺的品德,与当时西方主流文学惯性塑造的邪恶的、反面的华人形象形成了强烈的反差。表明了杰克·伦敦对东方文明的前瞻性思考以及东西方文化交融之可能性的有意义探索。
In his later works about Chinese, Jack London reveals his great interests in oriental civilization, especially in Chinese philosophy of life and morality, which is quite different from the west. His description shows that Chinese are mild, diligent, honest and pious, which forms a sharp contrast with the previous image of Chinese in western mainstream literature. His efforts to explore reference values of oriental civilization to westem civilization and the possibility to communicate and integrate between the east and the west is of great research value in Jack London＇s study.
