摘要
全球排名不但使中国政府和部分大学更加强了建设世界一流大学的意识,而且也为中国大学提供了世界一流大学的范例。数十年来,中国建设世界一流大学的努力不曾中断,但在不同的时期其社会环境、主观意愿、客观进程却存在显著差别。华中科技大学建设世界一流大学的实践具有代表性,从中可以管窥中国建设世界一流大学的心态与努力。总体上看,中国大学与世界一流大学之间还有较大的距离,建设世界一流大学,中国大学面临的困难很多。从大学的角度看,建设世界一流大学需要优先处理好三大关系,包括短期与长期的关系、行政化与学术自由的关系、某国化或某大学化与中国特色的关系。
Global university rankings not only strengthen the consciousness of the government and some universities in China to construct world-class universities,but also provide world-class examples for Chinese universities.Although the efforts to build world-class universities in China have not been interrupted for decades,there are significant differences among the social environments,subjective wishes and objective actions.The practice of Huazhong University of Science and Technology to build itself into a world-class university is representative of this trend,from which the attitude and devotion of Chinese universities in this process can be seen.Generally speaking,there is still a gap between Chinese universities and the world-class ones,which means that Chinese universities face many difficulties in catching up with the world-class ones.From the perspective of the university,it has to deal well with three major relationships,including that between short-term efforts and long-term efforts,that between administration and academic freedom,and that between the western model or the western university model and Chinese characteristics.
