摘要
在晚清小说的演进历程中,黄人将传奇、演剧纳入小说的考察范围,强调小说"感化社会之力",认为小说发展应植于"社会风尚",并据此确立以教化教育为首要目的且着眼于"人伦道德"、以"求诚明善"及"真美善"为重要特质的小说观,是位不可或缺的典型人物。这种"依自不依他"的表达方式与《小说林》同人在强调小说感化社会之力的同时,为追求小说期刊的办刊效益以"迎合风尚",从而确立以迎合读者趣味为主的寓教于乐式的表达方式有别。与黄人熟知中国小说发展实情所不同,《小说林》同人小说观念的形成多源于对彼时小说刊行情况的实证调查。
In the evolution of novels in late Qing Dynasty, HUANG ren brought legends and operas into the examination of fictions. And he stressed the novels' great influence on society. He believed that the novels' development should be based on the social fashions. On this base, he established his views on novels which were characterized by education as the first aim, emphasis on human relations and morals, and pursuit for honesty, truth, kindness and beauty. He was an irreplaceable figure in history of Chinese novels. Such expressive way which starts from oneself instead of others was different from the view held by fans of Novel Woods which stressed on the influence on society, pursued the profits and catered for readers' interests, and gave people lessons through vivid stories. Different from the development of Chinese novels known by HUANG, the views held by fans of Novel Woods largely originated from the survey of publication of the magazine.
