From the ecofeminist angle , this paper tries to analyze the three kinds of oppressions in the novel Waiting for Barbarians :the oppression of nature by human beings , the oppression of women by men and the oppression of so -called “barbarians” by colonists . Furthermore , it also aims to reveal the ecological , feminist elements as well as its concerns about the inferior , and points out that the root cause of oppressions is patriarchy . All these are relatively consistent with the ecofeminist idea , because both give profound thinking about the relationship between nature and the things around nature , and also pay close attention to the ultimate destiny of human beings and advocate building an equal , harmonious and interdependent relationship between human beings as well as between human beings and nature .
