An overview of the overseas studies on the mechanism of acupuncture

摘要 本文探讨在过去50年间海外研究针灸作用机理的不同的理论和假说。包括局部机械传导理论、闸门控制理论、神经体液理论、形态奇异性理论和神经节段理论。对每一种理论的合理性和缺陷进行了讨论与比较,从而得出结论认为,针灸的作用机制最有可能是多种生理过程的综合。 This article looks into different theories and hypotheses developed overseas over last five decades on how acupuncture works. They include local mechano-transduction theory, gate-control theory, neurohumoral theory, morphogenetic singularity theory and nerve segment theory. The rationality and de-fects of each theory is discussed with comparison. It concludes that the mechanism of acupuncture is most likely to be an integration of multiple physiological processes.
