Mark Twain is a universally recognized his literary creations distinguish his critical realism humorist. The satire and humor in most of from that of other realistic writers and their works. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Twain's representative novel, is the epitome of his style. Beneath his humor, raciness, robustness and sprightliness, however, flows an undercurrent of death and horror which, omnipresent notwithstanding, has long been neglected or slighted. It is from this perspective that this thesis attempts to analyze and discuss the seemingly invisible theme of death and horror by way of several telling plots, scenes or images, and probe into both the personal and social factors that lie behind it, in hopes of providing a new angle for the studies of Huck Finn.
