This essay inquires into Mark Twain's colloquial writing style in his The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It further focuses on the analysis of the differences between Huck's language and standard American English. Mark Twain's clever use of colloquialism is a significant factor that enables Huck to become a successful and vivid literary image, and in the mean time this novel initiated the plain literary trend among American writers. The publication of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn established the position of colloquialism in American literature.
