A kind of variable swirl intake system with subsidiary swirl controlled by air injection in the helical intake passage was developed, and the influence of this system on the emission performance of D.I. diesel engine was studied. The test results showed that this system is able to make obviously inprovement on the particulate and NO xemission without obvious effects on volumetric efficiency.
