摘要
本文以现代高等教育学理论为依据 ,研究对外汉语教育的本质与功能。文章认为 ,我国大学本科教育中的对外汉语教育 ,由于在教育对象、教育目的和教学内容等方面表现出的特殊性 ,它的本质既蕴含着普通高等教育的属性 ,同时又具有自身的特点。在社会功能方面亦同样有其鲜明的个性———让世界理解中国 ,中国了解世界 ;世界接受中国 ,中国走向世界。
Based on the study of modern higher education, this thesis examines the essence and functions of teaching Chinese as a second language. According to the author, teaching Chinese as a second language, being a kind of Chinese college education, has a nature similar to that of average Chinese higher education. It presents, however, its own characteristics, because of its particularity in educational targets, teaching purposes and contents. In the respect of social functions, teaching Chinese as a second language also presents its striking particularities. What make it very special are the functions of helping the world understand China and China the world, and of making the world accept China and China head for the world.
