可持续发展与人的发展相互联系，相互制约。在可持续发展的观念前提和现实背景下，思考人的发展的角度不仅要考虑个体和社会因素，而且还要考虑自然因素。可持续发展赋予了人的发展以新的内涵，比如生态意识、全球意识和创新意识。同时，实现社会和人的可持续发展将是一个以教育为根本途径，家庭教育和社会影响密切配合的系统工程。
