The characterization of the blacks and the exploration of the black and the white relationship has been a core concern of William Faulkner's career In The Sound and the Fury, the blacks play an indispensable role in the construction of the text and its theme as well. The old black mammy Dilsey props up the decaying old aristocrat family with her unswerving religious belief and retained hope. The deconstruction and reconstruction of the relationship between the white and the black add to the aesthetic appeal of the fiction. The target text also employs the rhythmic and passionate black gospel music to multi-dimensionally demystify the blackness, predicting that the dark race would be predestinated to lead people out of the darkness in the South.
