摘要
"轻盈而凝重"是当代小说家毕飞宇对小说的理解,也是他的小说理想。本文以葛浩文《玉米》英译本为例,对毕飞宇小说语言的三大特点——诗性表达、个性化比喻艺术、反讽艺术进行了深入细致的文本考察。研究显示,在比喻、反讽等微观修辞传达方面,其基本策略是旨在形神兼备的直译,这表明译者对作者的尊重及保持原文语言特质的努力。虽然目前读者效果尚有待考证,从长远的传播效果看,成功的文学翻译必然是保持了作品文学性的翻译。文中对葛氏译文提出了一孔之见的批评和建议。
＂Light in form but rich in content＂ is Bi Feiyu＇ s ideal for fiction writing as well as his unique understanding of fiction. This paper probes into three aspects which characterize Bi Feiyu＇ s style of fictional language, namely, poetical thinking, personalized metaphors and irony with Howard Goldblatt＇ s English Version Three Sisters as an example. The study shows how the translator, while paying much respect for the author and the linguistic features, struggles in his attempt to render fiterariness of the original by means of literal translation, which stresses on both form and content of the original and therefore is regarded as the ideal approach to literary translation in the long tun. Some remarks and suggestions on improvement are provided in this paper with regard to Goldblatt＇ s translation.
