The flocculation process of suspended particles had influence on the removal efficiencies of direct filtration, and the flocculation time was one of the main factors controlling the size and characteristics of flocs. In order to improve the efficiency of direct filtration on removal of organic pollutants in low temperature and low turbidity micro-polluted water, the influence of different flocculation time on removal efficiency was investigated. The results showed that the outflow of the process with a coagulation tank was better than that without the tank. The flocs were more close-grained and the Zeta potential was more tending to zero when the floeeulation time was longer than 10 rain. There were more advantageous for the flocs to be adsorbed on the filter media, especially for some aromatic organic matters and duplet bond organic matters. The removal rate could reach 35% when the flocculation time was 14 min.
