摘要
中西方传统的语言观都认为,语言是表达主观意愿或反映客观世界的工具。随着西方哲学史的演进,语言在现代西方成为了本体的存在。当代西方的后现代主义哲学强调语言的"不确定性",但作为后现代诗人,美国当代投射派诗歌的领袖查尔斯·奥尔森似乎并不强调语言的不确定性,而只是坚持语言是当下经验。通过分析奥尔森的相关言论可以发现,他强调语言是当下经验,是试图修复思维和行动(或经验)之间以及符号与意义之间的裂痕。他通过恢复语言中的"呼吸"使之回归经验。奥尔森的语言观在诗学传统上和庞德、威廉斯的观点一脉相承,同时也和维特根斯坦、海德格尔、怀特海以及杜威的哲学思想有诸多相似之处,但他对语言的信任却明显有别于后现代主义者对语言的怀疑,这在后现代语境中可谓是独树一帜。
In both China and the west, the traditional view of language holds that language is a tool for expressing subjective thoughts or representing objective reality. With the evolution of western philosophy, language turns to be an ontological existence rather than a tool in the modern times. The contemporary postmodern philosophy, however, places emphasis on the ＂indeterminacy＂ of language. Yet as a postmodern poet and leader of the Projective Verse, Charles Olson doesn＇t seem to accept this view. Instead, he insists that language is immediate experience. By analyzing his relevant theories, we can find that his insistence is an attempt to bridge the gap between thought and action （ or experience） and between sign and meaning. He restores language to experience by retrieving the ＂breath＂. Olson＇s idea of language is in line with Pound and Williams in terms of poetic theory. Meanwhile, it has a lot in common with the ideas of such philosophers as Wittgenstein, Heidegger, Whitehead and Dewey. However, Olson＇s trust in languag from the postmodern disbelief of language, thus distinguishing him in the postmodern e is obviously different context
