摘要
汉语新词能反映中国社会各方面的发展,承载着丰富的文化内涵。以模因论为指导,结合2006年版《最新汉英特色词汇》中汉语新词及其英语译文,尝试探讨汉语新词英译策略:直接引用目的语模因、侧重复制核心模因、忠实复制或高保真复制源语模因,从而使英译后的汉语新词模因能更快地被英语本族语使用者所接收和传播,达到宣传中国特色文化的目的。
Chinese neologisms reflect the development of the Chinese society in all aspects,and are endowed with rich cultural connotations. Guided by memetics,combined with the analysis of Chinese neologisms and their English translation in the 2006 edition of New Chinese Phrases in English ,this paper attempts to ex- plore the English translation strategies for Chinese neologisms:directly adopting target language memes, focusing on replicating core memes, faithfully replicating or fidelity replicating source language memes, which can enable the translated Chinese neologisms to be quickly received and transmitted by native speak- ers of English, so as to promote the Chinese culture.
