摘要
人们对英语听说能力的重视往往造成了对阅读一定程度的忽视。而理论和实践都证明,阅读是提高语言水平的重要途径。本文指出,为弥补语境的欠缺,将英语阅读与视听材料结合使用,会使优势互补,令学生获益更多。部分原版通俗小说因其可读性强、兼顾口语和书面语,又有相关电影做支撑,适于实现该教学目的。这两种材料的结合可为今后的教学与研究拓宽思路。
Emphasis on English listening and speaking often leads to the neglect of English reading. Reading, however, is an important way of improving language proficiency, as proved in theory and practice. To make up for the lack of natural context, it is necessary to combine reading with movie appreciation so as to benefit students more. Some popular novels are ideal for this purpose, as they are engaging, with exemplars for both oral and written English, and they are the basis of some good movies. The combination of these two kinds of material will help broaden the horizon of future teaching and research.
