Article summarizes the research of fault diagnosis and analyses the strengths and weaknesses of the various diagnostic methods, explore the characteristics of wavelet analysis, pointed to the development of wavelet a- nalysis, citing examples of wavelet theory in fault diagnosis of noise, vibration and shiver and other typical applica- tion, predicted the wavelet's development direction in the future.
