Objective To investigate the percentage and significance of CD4+CD25+CD127LOW/- regulatory T cells in peripheral blood in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Methods Patients with active and non-active rheuma- toid arthritis were included in this study. The percentage of CD4+CD25+CD127LOW/- regulatory T cells in CD4+ T cells were determined by four-colour flow cytometry and the results were compared with the normal. Results There was similar percentage of CD4+ CD25+T cells in peripheral blood of RA patients and healthy subjects. However, the percentage of CD4+CD25+CD127LOW/- regulatory T cells in active RA group was lower than that in non-active group and healthy subjects (P〈0.05). Conclusion There was similar percentage of CD4+ CD25+ T cells in peripher- al blood of RA patients and healthy subjects. However, the percentage of CD4+CD25+CD127LOW/- regulatory T cells in active RA group was lower than that in non-active group and healthy subjects (P〈0.05).
