摘要
缠足是中国特有的一种社会历史现象,是摧残妇女身心健康、违反人道的陈规陋习,曾经对中国历史和中国社会产生过重大影响。缠足起源于五代,发展于两宋,鼎盛于明清,取缔于民国。古人对小脚极为欣赏,有十八种、九品之分类。缠足之所以流行,主要是由性爱需要、控制女性、保持贞节、文人癖好等原因造成。缠足之所以被取缔,主要是因为缠足对女性身心健康造成了巨大摧残,此乃时代发展之必然。
Foot-binding was a unique social historical phenomenon in China and this outmoded inhumane custom destroyed women′s physical and mental health.It had made a significant impact on the Chinese history and society.Foot-binding could be traced back to Five Dynasties and it developed in Song Dynasty,flourished in Ming and Qing Dynasties and was banned in the Chinese republic.The ancients loved bound feet,which can be classified into many kinds.Its popularity resulted from sexual needs,control of women,keeping chastity and quirks of literati.The clampdown of foot-binding was an inevitable developing tendency of the times because it destroyed women′s physical and mental health
