摘要
外语焦虑是影响外语学习的重要情感变量之一。近几年来研究者越来越关注外语学习过程中所存在的特定语言技能焦虑,如外语阅读焦虑。采用定量和定性相结合的方法,利用外语阅读焦虑量表对泉州师范学院276位高年级英语专业学生的英语阅读焦虑现状进行研究。结果显示:高年级的英语专业学生普遍存在较高程度的英语阅读焦虑,与其英语学习水平呈显著的负相关;调查发现,文化因素不是高级阶段外语学习者英语阅读焦虑的主要来源,其两大焦虑因子是缺乏自信和语篇能力的不足;另外,焦虑源会随学生的英语水平的不同而有所区别。
Foreign language anxiety is one of the important affective variables in foreign language acquisi tion. Recent years have witnessed a tremendous interest in the research of specific foreign language anxie ty, particularly foreign language reading anxiety. A questionnaire investigation is conducted among 276 advanced English majors from Quanzhou Normal University. Results show that advanced English majors are suffering a rather high English reading anxiety which is negatively related to their English proficiency to a slight but significant degree. Different from previous studies, cultural factor is not found to be one main source of participants anxiety; students English reading anxiety is mostly triggered by their insuffi ciency of selfconfidence and discourse proficiency. Additionally, their impact on anxiety varies with students English proficiency.
