牌坊是一种中国独有的建筑符号,文化内涵丰富。徽州牌坊是徽州文化的重要载体,承载着民族建筑艺术的精髓,具有丰富的文化价值。它是程朱理学的物化,彰显了儒家思想;它是徽州女性的抉择,再现了贞节观念;它是徽商生命的追求,捍卫至上的男权;它是徽州工艺的结晶,凸显出石雕艺术。
The archway, a unique symbol of Chinese architecture, is rich in the cultural connotation. Huizhou archway is an important carrier of Huizhou culture, carrying the essence of the national architectural art with great value of culture. It materializes the Neo-Confucianism and highlights the Confucian thought. As a choice of Huizhou females it embodies the chastity idea and being the defense of male supremacy it is a life-time pursuit of Huizhou merchants. The stone carving art is the crystallization of Huizhou technology.
