"他爸爸战友儿子(的杯子)"和"新大瓷杯子"里"的"的隐现表现出镜像关系,"本周周一上午九点"和"重庆市北碚区天生路西南大学"里的"的"可自由隐现,"我的碗"不能省去"的"而"我的碗里"能省,所有这些"的"的隐现情况都可以从句法组合松紧得到统一解释:句法组合越松越易带"的",句法组合越紧越不易带"的"。
Between such Chinese expressions as ＂ta baba zhanyou erzi（de beizi） ＂ ＇his father＇s comrade＇s son（＇s cup）＇,and ＂xin da ci beizi＂＇new big porcelain cups＇,the occurrence ability of de in the modifiers displays a mirror image effect.In ＂benzhou zhouyi shangwu jiudian＂ ＇nine o＇clock in the morning this Monday＇,and ＂Chongqingshi Beibeiqu Tianshenglu Xi＇nandaxue＂＇Xi＇nan University,Tiansheng Road,Beibei District,Chongqing Municipality＇,＂de＂ can appear freely.In ＂wo de wan＂ ＇my bowl＇,and ＂wo de wan li＂＇inside my bowl＇,＂de＂ is obligatory in the former but optional in the latter.All these phenomena are explained by one general constraint：the more loosely the constituents in a construction are combined,the more likely ＂de＂ is to be present;and the more closely the constituents are combined,the more likely ＂de＂ is to be absent.
