摘要
为降低等离子体显示器(PDP)的寻址功耗,在分析PDP寻址功耗和图像信息在各子场分布特征的基础上,根据人眼视觉在不同背景亮度下对图像信息感知能力不同的特点,提出了子场数据自适应优化低功耗寻址方法。该方法在图像质量变化不影响视觉感知的情况下,根据图像寻址功耗的预设目标和实际值,自适应选择寻址功耗的优化级别,通过减少低权重子场数据变化率来降低PDP寻址功耗。该方法仅需对寻址数据的算法进行优化,无需改动硬件和驱动波形,在50英寸WXGA单扫PDP模组上对IEC标准动态视频的寻址功耗进行测试,结果表明,该方法可使IEC标准动态视频的寻址功耗平均降低8.17%,最大降低25.8W。
A novel technique,an adaptive subfield data optimization, was developed to reduce the address power in plasma display panel (PDP) under the condition that the changes in image quality least affect visual perception. The ad- dress power and image information in each subfield distribution were analyzed, based on the characteristics of visual per- ception of the image information at different brightness levels. The newly-developed method is capable of lowering the ad- dress power by adaptively selecting the optimization level and by decreasing the change rate of the address data in lower fields. The address power of the IEC dynamic broadcast-content video was evaluated in a 50 inch PDP with single scan; and the test results show that without change in the hardware and driving waveform, the address data optimization method reduced the average address power by 8.17 %, with a maximum power reduction up to 25.8 W.
