摘要
柯林伍德在《历史的观念》一书中对布拉德雷的《批判历史学的前提假设》的评论是后人研究布拉德雷的基础。柯林伍德从"科学历史学"观念出发,一方面赞扬布拉德雷的"批判历史学"所表现出的批判精神,另一方面又批评其作为批判标准的"前提假设"带有实证主义的痕迹。但从布拉德雷的思想出发,其前提假设主要指人们在历史认识中预设的某种一贯性观念,而并非限于实证主义;其意图是通过指明历史学必然从一个"无法证明"的一贯性前提出发,从而剔除历史学中的客观主义,进而调和当时英国社会在信仰和理性之间的矛盾。
Collingwood＇s The Idea of History is a classic work in philosophy of history. It is his review in this book on Bradley＂ Presupposition of Critical History that made the latter the founder of critical phi- losophy of history. Most of the critic＇s understanding of Bradley is influenced by Collinwood＇s comments. Recent studies show that Collingwood＇s comments are not that correct and that Bradley＂s original thought is often overlooked. Collinwood＇s discussion on Bradley is based on his idea of ＂scientific history＂ while Bradley＂s thought is about ＂critical history＂. Bradley＂s intention focuses on expounding that critical history can＂ t be absolutely objective because it must ＂starting from a conception which it cannot prove＂ so as to reconcile the split between faith and reason in Britain in the late 19th century.
