摘要
卡特福德认为两种语言间不存在实体特征完全吻合的对等词。英语与汉语在一定语境中的对等词,其概念意义并非完全对等。正确区分词语的概念意义和语境对等词是准确翻译的关键。
Catford proposed that words with equivalent substance features didn＇t exist between two languages. The equivalents in a given context between English and Chinese cannot be completely equivalent in their conceptual meanings. The key to have exact translation is to distinguish the conceptual meaning from contextual equivalents.
