The paper links the unique cultural idiosyncrasy'harmony'in China with ethical leadership at workplace.Using quantitative methods to investigate the impact of ethical leadership on harmony in Chinese organizations, our findings suggest that employee-rated ethical leadership significantly relates to employee-perceived harmony in eight dimensions, included self-harmony,harmony with colleagues, that with team, that with supervisors, that with managerial systems, that with other departments, and that with the highest leader in it,as well as harmony between an organization's internal and external environment. The findings also show that organization, workforce, and demographic characteristics may influence employees' attitude towards their organizations in the Chinese context. For instance, female employees seem to perceive more harmony with their supervisors, lower educated workers perceive more harmony between an organization's external and internal environment, and the employees of a firm with recent lay-off may perceive less harmony with colleagues.Theoretical and practical implications are particularly discussed in details.
