Young Goodman Brown是N.Hawthorne短篇小说的代表作之一,其笔下的人物形象Goodman Brown是文学批评界争论的焦点之一。本文结合国内外研究者对于该人物形象的不同解读,从系统功能语言学的语境理论视角对Young GoodmanBrown的中文译名进行了评析,考察语境对翻译过程中意义传递的影响,旨在阐释语境理论对翻译研究和实践的重要性。
The image of ＂Young Goodman Brown＂ created by Nathaniel Hawthorne has been a focus of controversy among literary critics. The paper introduces different interpretations and different versions of Chinese translation of the name of ＂Young Goodman Brown＂ by researchers at home and abroad, analyses and interprets the image from a systemic functional contextual perspective, studying the impact of context on the transference of meaning in translation, with the aim of interpreting the importance of the contextual theory in translation studies.
