摘要
追问大学的使命,可以从比较抽象的大学信念开始,然后是大学理想,再到具体的大学责任,这一过程就是在回答"大学是什么"的基本问题。教学与科研是大学的基本职能,更好地发展教学、科研,正是大学校长的使命和责任。通过履行职能,大学发挥各种功能,而好的功能仍基于自身使命的履行。大学传承和发展文化,传承和发展的有机结合是大学的使命,发展人的可发展性才是教育的真谛。
