Analysis of the Impact of Temperature on the Performance of Fabry-Perot LiNbO_3 Electro-Optical Switch

摘要 研究了温度对法布里-珀罗铌酸锂电光开关性能的影响。理论分析结果表明,铌酸锂晶体折射率热变化引起的光程差变化要比线性热膨胀引起的大一个量级,而电光效应热变化引起的光程差变化则比前两者的小得多。折射率随温度的改变是晶体温度升高造成光程差变化的主要原因,进而使法布里-珀罗电光开关透射峰的中心波长发生漂移,失去对光束的调控能力。可以通过在铌酸锂晶体上施加直流电压或者在法布里-珀罗腔中加入液晶波片的方法对温度的影响进行补偿。 The influence of temperature on the performance of Fabry-Perot LiNbO3 electro-optical switch is investigated. Theoretical analysis results indicate that the variation of optical path difference induced by the thermal varition of refractive index is One order of magnitude larger than that induced by thermal expantion, and the variation of optical path difference induced by the thermal variation of the electrooptic effect is much smaller than those induced by the former two effects. The sensitivity of the optical path difference to temperature changes in LiNbO3 is mainly due to changes of the refractive index with temperature, and leads to the excursion of transmitted peak of the Fabry-Perot electro-optical switch. The variation of optical path difference with temperature can be compensated by applying a DC voltage on the LiNhO3 crystal or insert a liquid crystal wave olate in the Fahrv-Perot cavitv.
