In China's ancient mythology, Kunlun Mountain had been a holy place worshipped by the ancient people. The reason why Kunlun Mountain, as "the second capital of the emperors", was heavily fortified was because those creators of the mythology prevented the followers from rushing into the holy mountain so that they would doubt the truthfulness of the Kunlun Mountain. That King Mu of Zhou Dynasty climbed up the Kunlun Mountain was only an ancient legend (as an variant of the ancient mythology), which was a proof of the truthfulness of Kunlun Mountain by those believers in the period of the Warring States. Moreover, that Emperor Hanwu named Tiannan Mountain as Kunlun Mountain was based on belief and investigation at the time.
