摘要
《史诗与长篇小说——长篇小说研究方法论》标志着巴赫金对传统小说理论和体裁理论的革命性突破,巴赫金以宏阔的理论视野将不同文学体裁的分野归结为史诗与小说的对立,并在此基础上提出了一种全新的小说体裁观,为平凡文体(prosaics)的发展繁荣推出了理论先导。但同时巴赫金的理论又具有相对局限性。巴赫金在二元对立的文学世界中弃史诗而扬小说,为平凡文体的发展繁荣扫清了理论障碍;而思考巴赫金的相对局限性则有助于增益文学的多元丰富和创造力。
Through critical close reading of Mikhail Bakhtin＇s Epic and Novel： Towards a Methodology for the Study of the Novel,the author summarized Bakhtin＇s major viewpoints,attempted to describe his contributions to the theory of fiction and of genre,and exposed his relative limitations in an evolving ＂contemporary reality＂ and a renewed literary-theoretic context.Just as exaltation of the novel has facilitated the development of the prosaic,reflections on Bakhtin＇s relative limitations will add to the diversity and creativity of literature.
