明清民间商业运作下的“官箴书”传播——以坊刻与书肆为视角 被引量:17

The Dissemination of "Handbooks on Official Conduct" by Civil Commercial Operation in Ming and Qing Dynasty: A Perspective from Publishers and Bookshops

摘要 明清时期,"官箴书"不仅在数量上达到了创作和出版的高峰,在内容上也越来越突出实用价值。刺激"官箴书"数量剧增和内容转向的直接动因,是巨大的阅读需求的存在。由于明清时期地方政府工作的繁复琐碎,"官箴书"的基本读者不仅包括出身科举、缺乏行政和司法知识的地方官员,也包括了幕友、书吏和讼师等人。在这样的市场需求下,民间商业资本开始加入"官箴书"的传播行列,从事出版和销售。明清印刷业、出版业的发达,私人书坊、书肆的活跃,书籍销售网络的扩展,使得坊刻本"官箴书"开始成为这类书籍的重要组成部分,不仅进一步推动了"官箴书"创作和出版的繁荣,而且降低了"官箴书"的出版成本,有效拓展了"官箴书"的传播范围,使普通读者更加容易获得,同时也使"官箴书"的内容更加照顾读者市场的实际需求。 In Ming and Qing Dynasty,the publishing scale of official exhortative books reached a peak,and the content of these books turned to highlight practical value.The direct cause stimulating the sharp increase and content change of official exhortative books was the existence of a huge demand for reading.Since the work of local government in Ming and Qing Dynasty was complicated and trivial,the main readers of official exhortative books not only included local officials who were selected through imperial examination and lacked of administrative and judicial knowledge,but also included private assistants,clerks and pettifoggers.With such a market demand,private commercial capital joined the dissemination of official exhortative books,engaging in publishing and sales.The flourishing printing and publishing industries,developing private publishers and book stores,and expanding book sales network made private published books become important part of official exhortative books.This change promoted creation and publishing of these books and reduced publishing cost,thus effectively expanded dissemination scope.Consequently,official exhortative books became more available to common readers,and their contents meet more readers' practical need.
