摘要
英汉两种语言由于句子结构不同,其话题结构也存在很大差异。英语是注重主语的语言,其话题常常隐藏在句子的其他成分中;而汉语则是注重话题的语言,话题常常置于句首。因此在汉英翻译实践中需要对话题进行适当转换以符合其含义和表达习惯。本文作者试图用实例来分析汉英翻译中的话题转换,其目的就是帮助英语学习者在翻译实践中能够最大限度地做到等值翻译。
There are many differences between English and Chinese,especially in their topic structures.English is a subject-prominent language and its topic structure is often hidden in a sentence;while Chinese is a topic-prominent language and its topic is often placed at the beginning of a sentence.Therefore,the topic structure is often required transformation in translation.The authors attempt to contrast the topic structure both in English and Chinese,and analyze the topic transformation in C-E translation with some examples.
