摘要
实现一种简易的热光开关,利用有机-无机混合溶胶凝胶材料的温敏特性,在光纤耦合器表面涂敷了一层温敏薄膜,通过温度改变了耦合器的折射率分布。当薄膜的折射率大于耦合器的石英材料折射率时,耦合器的传输损耗高,会发生光的抑制,反之则能够正常通光。利用温度变化这一特性,设计热光开关的装置,该装置成本低,制作简便,稳定性高,有一定的使用价值。
A simple thermo-optical switch was demonstrated.The fiber coupler was coated with organic-inorganic sol-gel material which had high thermo-optical coefficient.With the variation of temperature,the refractive index profile of the coupler was changed.As the film refractive index was higher than that of the fiber coupler's silica material,the optical power would no longer propagate through the coupler.On the contrary,the film index was tuned to a lower value;the optical power would be restricted within the coupler.Thus,a function of optical switch controlled by temperature was achieved.With a low cost,easy fabrication and good stability,this kind of thermo-optical switch could have a great value in applications.
