A series of chitosan Zn(Ⅱ) complexes with n (chitosan) n (Zn(Ⅱ)) =10 05~ 11 0 were synthesized in aqueous acidic solution. The results indicated that the Zn(Ⅱ) content of the complexes prepared in dilute formic acid solution was higher than in other acid solutions: acetic, propionic, benzoic and hydrochloric acids. IR spectrum results showed that Zn(Ⅱ) are coordinated to NH 2, NHCO and OH groups of chitosan molecnle and the final complexes have no definite chemical composition.
