在19世纪讽刺小说经典《埃里汪奇游记》中,在对现实社会与虚幻世界、理性与非理性的交融、对照中,体现了作者对维多利亚时代的讽刺和批评。在表面荒诞的情节下,影射的是一个非理性的维多利亚社会。作为一部奇特的乌托邦作品,《埃里汪奇游记》实现了对现实的批判和对未来世界构思的巧妙融合,其意义深远。
In Erewhon, which is one of the greatest satirical works of the nineteenth century, the author satirizes and criticizes the Victorian Age through blending and contrasting the realistic society with visionary world and the rational with the irrational. Under the seemingly absurd plot, the mockery alludes to the irrational Victorian society. As a unique utopian work, Erewhon succeeds in combing the criticism of reality with the design of future world, and has far-reaching effects.
