摘要
目前,我国的合格译者供不应求。翻译学的学科定位被长期误置,导致了高校英语专业翻译人才的培养规模落后于社会的需求。涉及人数庞大的非英语专业的翻译教学被长期忽视。我国学者对该领域的认识存在偏颇,涉足该领域的研究者不多;涉足者往往将其看作一个笼统的整体。其实,非英语专业的翻译教学应由低年级和高年级两部分构成,前者属于教学翻译,后者属于翻译教学,两者间存在着本质上的不同。非英语专业高年级学生中英语优秀者具备语言基础好、专业知识丰富且互补等优势,是发掘和培育翻译人才的重要源泉。针对非英语专业高年级学生的翻译教学应以翻译能力培养为核心,各校应从实际出发,或可遵从重笔译轻口译、重实践轻理论、重非文学翻译轻文学翻译、重翻译能力的量化培养、重现代科技的应用等原则。
Few translation researchers or teachers who are involved in translation teaching to non-English majors will treat it as an integrated whole. Firstly, this paper divides translation teaching to non-English majors into two stages: teaching translation to first- and second- year students and translation teaching to third-and fourth- year students. Secondly, the paper argues that non-English majors have the edge over English majors because they have gained greater subject expertise in addition to a certain level of English proficiency. Thirdly, translator trainees should be chosen on the voluntary basis and screening examination results should also be considered. Fourthly, training non-English majors as translators should follow the following principles such as emphasizing more translation and less interpreting, focusing more on practice and less theories, paying more attention to non-literary texts and translation competence as well as the employment of modem technologies.
