摘要
词语缩略的原因是为了使语言的使用经济、省力,这已是学界的共识。然而,"省力"的内涵是什么?采用什么方法和原则对汉语词语进行缩略可以达到"省力"这一目的?这些问题为汉语缩略语的研究者们所忽略。事实上,"省力"涉及言语交际的双方言者与听者。言者为了省力将词语缩略的同时还必须考虑听者在理解上的省力,因为如果缩略语的形式让听者费解或误解便会导致不成功的交际。因此,词语缩略所采用的方法和原则必须使得言者与听者达成平衡和默契,这样才能达到真正省力的目的。
It is agreed in linguistic society that the reason why words are shortened is to make it economic and effort-saving in language use. However, it was ignored by linguists how to interpret ＂least effort＂ in Chinese lexical abbreviation and how to save effort in it. The principle of least effort involves both interlocutors, both tending to pay least effort in the language communication. The speakr, while trying to abbreviate the words and phrases to save his effort, has to ensure that the abbreviations are easily understandable, so that the listener only needs to pay least effort to understanding the communicative purpose of the speaker. Otherwise, it would cause a communicative failure. Therefore,the speaker should take the right ways and follow the appropriate principles to create abbreviations, so that the abbreviations created and used in the communication should ensure the balance and harmony between the speaker and listener, thus leading to least effort m both aspects.
