William Golding is celebrated for the revelation in his works of the dark side in human nature. His renowned novel Lord of the Flies is receiving increasing attention from feminists for an absence of female characters, and it now becomes a debated work of androeentrism. However, this paper sets an opposite tone to that feminist perception and reinterprets the construction of the novel. It offers a comparative reading of novels regarding teenage boys under influences of the Second World War, and reconfirms the author' s genuine intention of writing this novel. Besides,it initiates objective analysis with a solid foundation upon essentialists' theories, scientific researches and literary interpretations, thus it concludes that Golding' s unique way of excluding female characters from the novel is purposeful and justifiable. This study significantly evokes the readers' unbiased attitude and a new perception in understanding the novel.
